This time every year I need to remind folks that Baltimore Orioles will soon be shunning their feeders.

It’s not because they don’t like you or are dismissive of your choice in house paint colors. It’s because they’re busy raising nestlings. When the little tikes hatch, mom and dad feed them lots of insects. As a result, they don’t have time to indulge in jelly or oranges, so they eat bugs, too. However, once the young fledge, there’s a good chance that the whole family will be back at your feeders! Just be patient.
